Public Auction of Surplus Equipment / Personal Property

Our next Surplus Equipment Auction will be sometime in the summer (our last auction was held on January 27, 2010). Details will be posted on McCormack Auction website (link below).

In the past, we have conducted 2 to 3 surplus auctions annually, as the need requires. It will be held at our new location at 9315 Hillery Drive, San Diego, California. The only preview time for the items will be held on the auction day, just a couple of hours before the auction start time. We invite businesses, as well as individuals to participate in the auctions. Generally there is a $200 refundable cash deposit per person to be able to bid on items. However, we have made arrangements for the cash deposit to be waived for SDCCD students with proper identification. Employees of the District are NOT permitted to bid.

If you are an individual, and wish to make an individual purchase for any high-interest items (e.g., one computer, one sewing machine), bring your wish to the attention of the auctioneer prior to the auction so that an modification may be made, if possible.

Each auction has various items. The following are examples of the types of items typically included: analyzers; bookcases; cameras; chairs; cabinets; copiers; desks; fax machines; LCD projectors; microcomputers; monitors; player/recorders; printers; radios; refrigerators; sanders; saws; scanners; sewing machines; shredders; stereos; tables; TV's; typewriters; VCR's; vehicles; video equipment; workbenches; workstation; zip drives, and much more.

All items purchased at an auction need to be picked up within 3 (three) business days following the event. However, some large items (i.e., airplanes, cars, fire engines, machine shop equipment) may be located at other sites, and specific pick-up arrangements will be made.

We anticipate making arrangements again with the McCormack Auction Co. to conduct the auction. Details about the auction are posted on their website. There is also an opportunity to sign up for their mailing list, as they conduct auctions for numerous schools and businesses in the San Diego area.
